A Little About Me
I have been married for 17 years and have 3 children - 2 teenagers and a 5 year old.
I love to craft, love to create, but for some reason can't seem to decorate my home. Crazy, huh? I love to cook, I love to bake, but I love to go out to eat just the same.
I own my own hairbow business. I would love someday to have a full-blown successful business from my home but right now I'm happy with my online website. You can check it out at http://www.topthatbowtique.com/. I also sell on Etsy http://www.topthatbowtique.etsy.com/. Hair bows are my specialty, but I love to sew, paint, scrapbook and try new crafty things, thus the name crafty critter. I'm always doing something crafty. I come by it rightly as my mother has an art minor from college and my father is a graphic artist. I do not work with sculpey clay and I do not make jewelry (I have awesome friends that do that!).
I love Christian music. It inspires me, moves me and makes my heart happy. I feel that where I am in life is because of the Lord and the great things He has done for me. My husband, children and I just moved to the south from the midwest and I am trying to adapt. The line of the song, "I will praise Him in the storm" keeps coming to mind. It's been an adjustment but I have made some wonderful Godly friends and whether God keeps us here forever or if we are just passing through, I know that He will be faithful to us if we remain faithful to His call.
I decided to start blogging because I enjoy making things as gifts or for my family and I get excited when they turn out and want to share them with people. My husband is a saint, as he puts up with my "craft crap" as he calls it constantly being spread all over. Let me clarify - he doesn't think what I MAKE is crap, just the stuff I use to make the things, and ONLY when they overflow from my craft room into the living space of the house.
I figure someday we will have a house big enough for me to have a craft room that I've only dreamt about but for now I just need to organize where I'm at. Tell me I'm not the only crafter who has a hard time staying organized!?!?
I hope you enjoy reading about my craft adventures as much as I do crafting and creating. Maybe as I get used to this I'll expand and do more...we'll see!

Craft Room Valance
I still can't believe I paid $30 for this pattern but it's the best one I've seen...probably EVER and they were even in the fabric I had picked out for my office. How cool is that?!
Pattern pinned, getting ready to cut.
So as I'm cutting the pattern out, I start thinking to myself (that's always dangerous): "I mean, what's the worst that can happen? So I need to order more fabric - YIKES - PANIC!" The first cut was finished and I had a lot more to go, 7 more panels actually. After all, I am making this to cover a triple window in my craft room, so it needs to be at LEAST 99" wide. That's a lot of window!
I must have measured at least a hundred times if not more. I think I finally realized that I did in fact order enough fabric to make the valance. As of right now I only have the front fabric cut.
I guess you want to see the pattern AND the fabric, huh?

Notice how they are the same fabric? Pretty cool, huh? I thought so!
Well, more later....
My First Blog
This is my first blog. I'm going to try to make this a really cool blog...let's see how that goes. If you would like to follow my blog, feel free. If you don't, that's cool too. I plan on putting family happenings (because in my family there's ALWAYS something going on) and my crafty workings. Here we go!
